for those office for the mac users - fire up the autoupdate (or go to Microsoft here). Microsoft has released updated for the office suites which are HIGHLY recommended!

the usual improvements in stability and performance are included, but when Microsoft includes the lines

“In addition, this update includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.”

i tend to fire up the download as soon as possible.

questions or concerns, let us know.

mobileme

August 5th, 2008

apple has officially announced they screwed up with the mobileme launch. Esentially, apple (Steve Jobs) said that they should have staggered the launch of the iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 and MobileMe to protect the kludge that they had in the last weeks.

Better late than never…

tap tap tap

August 5th, 2008

In doing some “wandering” around the web I came across tap tap tap. a group of designers who have been doing a number of things with the mac for the last years, but have ventured into the iPhone/iTouch App Business. the macheist deals come from their team too and i have really enjoyed them (one and two - three is coming…)

The site is simple, but great and their Apps - Well. I got one of the free tip calculators from the iTunes App Store and it worked, but nothing to write a review about - tipulator is another story!

at a whopping $0.99 it is worth every penny (and the update coming soon to a keypad will be welcomed). the design is clean and wonderful to look at, the interface intuitive and the price - EXCELLENT. keep an eye on these guys.

they have a couple of new products coming down the line, groceries - very excited so i do not have to call my wife from the whole foods and i’m here. experience and thoughts, let us know!

keep up the excellent work all!

iPhone/iTouch 2.01 (UPDATE)

August 5th, 2008

Apple released iPhone 2.01 (via iTunes) for the iPhone and iTouch last night. I have been waiting for this so I can do a complete rebuild of my phone.

The 2.01 released last night and I downloaded and restored my phone with this software and then re-synced and setup all my information. Will know more today but over the last few days the 1G iPhone i have has been acting up more and more, location services seem to not be working (or working slowly) and I continue to have the occasional reboot when launching an application.

Last night I took the time, downloaded and reinstalled all apps, and re-set the exchange and mobile me syncing and so far, so good…

Now when will 2.1 appear :)

1password

July 29th, 2008

1Password has been updated to 2.8.1 and has a iPhone/iTouch app (from the iTunes App Store) available NOW!

I downloaded the App this morning, I got the update for the laptop and I have been TRYING to sync the phone to the Mac - without any luck. The wireless sync is not seeing the devices so i cannot sync.

The system looks awesome and I cannot wait to get it working, just not sure what is happening quite yet. Anyone have any thoughts, experiences or solutions, let us know!

Over the last months (really since the Apple developers conference) there has been talk and concern about the health of Steve Jobs.
A number of years ago cancer crept into his life, but all reports said he beat it (as you would expect Steve to do to something like cancer) but a thin face at WWDC got the press buzzing.
“who could replace Steve?”, “is he sick again?”. Apple quickly responded that Steve did have a bug but was in good health otherwise. I tend to believe them. Here is a report from Business Week.
That bring said, the market has been closly watching apple and Steve. Earning reports for 3Q08 were good the other night and apple has crept into #3 for PC market. Why is the stock down?
Time will tell, but I’m hoping Steve is around for another few amazing years at the helm of Apple (and Pixar) and can gracefully hand off to someone with the same cult-like following and energy he has provided.
